From the OKC to the ND

So - yes - I am still alive. I have moved a thousand miles away - but I am still alive!
We've done a lot of traveling and unpacking in the last couple months so I haven't been keeping up. I uploaded the pictures backwards - because its that kind of day so we are going to go backwards on our journey! Adam was at a training for his new job for 6 weeks in Oklahoma city and he wanted us to come and pick him up and drive us all back home. So - I - drove to OKC with the boys - by myself! I know - I felt like a pioneer - except that my wagon was little nicer ....but still it was an experience! Luckily - I have a wonderful friend in Denver who let me stay with her one night & we had an excellent break there before we drove the next 12 hours to Oklahoma city! The boys were very good and I got there in one day! It was so good to see Adam after all that time also!! Most of these pictures are from our time in the OKC. I was nervous about visiting there - but we actually had a really nice time and there were lots of things to do and see. (please excuse my hair - the humidity was not my friend)
One night Adam took us to this restaurant on the shore of a lake. It was SUCH great food & the view was awesome. It was called RedRock and at sunset they ring this bell and everyone cheers. It's called a sunset party. It was kinda fun & silly! If I were hip and with it I would have fit in with all the other trendy boat travelers that were eating there - but - I just looked like a stay at home mother of two - so no bumping elbows with the rich and famous! I just people watched instead and it was just as fulfilling! It was a really fun night and Vance found a frog on the sidewalk which he thought was totally amazing!

Then Adam took us to this little diner called the Cattlemen's - which we saw on Diners, Drive-inns and Dives - It was great! If you are ever in the OKC it is a destination you must get to. It definitely hasn't changed since it opened - but it's good! Adam knew that the Oklahoma City Bombing memorial was near there so we decided to check it out. And I'm so glad we did. It was really neat. Right when we walked up to it - it gave both of us goosebumps immediately. It's really an amazing sight. There are two giant walls on each side. They have the time before the bombing and the time after the bombing. They symbolize how everything changed after that one minute. Then there are chairs for each victim of the bombing. They have names on the bottom of them and they are illuminated at night. I remember when the bombing happened but it seemed so much more real to see all those chairs. It was very moving and humbling. I feel so sad for those families and so grateful that they have a wonderful memorial so that people never forget the magnitude of what happened. It's all run by donations which is pretty neat too. It feels good to see people spending, what I bet is a lot of money, on such a neat thing. There was a museum too - but we got there too late to go in.

So we decided to drive home a different way than we came - so I didn't get to see my dear friend Sonnie on the way home and I missed my other dear friend Hillery in the ABQ by like 30 minutes! (so sad - sorry Hillery - I promise to always call ahead when I go to the ABQ!)
BUT- we did get to drive through some of Adam's mission. It was really great to see where he served and it was a beautiful drive. We went from OKC to Amarillo to Albuquerque to Durango colorado. Then the next day we drove through Monticello (where Adam's dad grew up) to Moab and Grand Junction and Vernal then to Rock Springs. I feel like I've seen a lot of the mid-west and west this summer and it was fun! Anyway - long story short. We are now in North Dakota and enjoying the rest of the summer. I have more pictures - but I will have to post them later...to report the second half of the summer! Cheers!
